The three most common lash sets sound like sizes. They are not. They are different application methods that produce genuinely different looks.
Booking the wrong one is the most common first-timer mistake, so here is the plain version.
Classic
One extension attached to one natural lash. Strict one to one.
Look: your lashes, but longer and darker. Like a good coat of mascara that never smudges.
Best for: people who already have decent natural lash density, anyone who wants subtle, and first-timers who are unsure.
Hybrid
A mix of classic single extensions and volume fans, usually around a 70/30 or 50/50 blend.
Look: textured and fuller than classic without being dramatic. The most requested set, because it flatters almost everyone.
Best for: sparse areas that need filling, anyone who wants noticeable but not obvious, and most people who think they want volume.
Volume
Multiple ultra-fine extensions hand-fanned and applied to a single natural lash. Fans run from 2D up to 8D or more.
Look: dense, dark, dramatic. Unmistakably extensions.
Best for: sparse or fine natural lashes that cannot support heavier single extensions, and anyone who wants full impact.
Worth knowing: because the individual extensions in a fan are much finer, a well-made volume fan can weigh less than a single thick classic extension. Volume is not automatically heavier. Poorly made volume is.
How to pick
Look at your natural lashes in good light.
Dense and healthy, want subtle: classic. Some gaps, want fullness without drama: hybrid. Sparse or fine, or you want maximum impact: volume. Still unsure: hybrid. It is the safest default and the easiest to adjust at your first fill.
The part nobody mentions
Fills are not optional. Your natural lashes shed on their own cycle and extensions go with them.
Plan on a fill every two to three weeks. Sets start at $60 here and fills cost less than a full set, but budget for the ongoing cost before you commit. Go longer than four weeks and you will likely need a full set again.
Aftercare that actually matters
No water for 24 hours. The adhesive is still curing.
Clean them daily after that. People get this backwards. Dirty lash lines cause irritation and premature shedding. Use a lash cleanser and a soft brush.
No oil-based products near your eyes. Oil dissolves adhesive.
Do not rub, pick or pull. Pulling an extension takes your natural lash with it.
Sleep on your back if you can. Side sleepers lose lashes on one side faster and it is very obvious.
Skip the sauna and steam for 48 hours. Heat and moisture affect the cure.
