Short answer: two weeks minimum, three to four weeks ideal.
Longer answer worth reading, because the reason matters more than the number.
Why two weeks
Botox does not work instantly. The onset curve looks like this:
Days one to two, nothing. You may have small bumps at the injection sites for an hour and mild tenderness. Otherwise you look exactly the same.
Days three to five, the first softening. People start noticing they cannot furrow as hard.
Days seven to ten, most of the effect is in.
Days ten to fourteen, final settling. Whatever you see at day fourteen is what you have.
If your event is at day seven, you are showing up mid-process. It might look great. It might look slightly uneven, because different muscles take up product at different rates.
Why three to four weeks is better
The two week mark is not just about the result. It is about the correction window.
Small asymmetries at day fourteen are normal and completely fixable with a few units. That follow-up appointment takes ten minutes.
If you booked exactly two weeks out, you have no room for it. If you booked four weeks out, you have a full week of buffer plus the touch-up time.
For a wedding, a milestone birthday, professional headshots, or anything where photos will exist forever, book four weeks out. Not two.
The hard deadline
Do not get Botox inside of seven days before something important.
This is not because it will look bad. It is because bruising is possible, and bruising near the eyes takes seven to ten days to resolve. It is uncommon but it happens, and it happens more if you are on fish oil, ibuprofen, or a glass of wine the night before.
If you are already inside seven days, the honest advice is to skip it and book a facial instead. You will look better and you will not be gambling.
First-timer timing
If this is your first Botox appointment and there is a big event coming, add more runway. Six to eight weeks.
Reason: we dose conservatively on a first treatment and adjust at the two week follow-up. That is a feature, not a delay, but it means you want two full cycles before the event.
Same logic if you are trying a new injector. Your first appointment with someone new is not the one to schedule three weeks before your wedding.
Building a pre-event schedule
For a wedding or similar, this sequence works well:
Twelve weeks out, start a microneedling series if texture is a concern. Six to eight weeks out, first Botox appointment. Four weeks out, Botox touch-up if needed. Two weeks out, last facial with extractions. Two to three days out, spray tan and lashes. Day before, nothing new. Nothing at all.
That last line is the one people ignore and regret.
