A meaningful share of our injectable appointments are men, and the number keeps climbing. Almost none of them mention it to anyone.

The treatment is not different. The dosing, the goals and the questions are.

Men need more units

Male facial muscles are denser and stronger, particularly the glabellar complex between the brows. Standard male dosing there commonly runs well above the female average.

A full upper face for a man often lands in the 50 to 80 unit range where a woman might be 40 to 64.

That matters for two reasons. First, cost. At $10 per unit the difference is real. Second, if an injector doses you off a female template, you will conclude Botox does not work on you, and the actual issue was undertreatment.

The goal is usually different

Most men who come in do not want smooth. They want to stop looking angry or tired.

The specific complaint is almost always the same: people at work keep asking if something is wrong, or a photo showed a permanent scowl that does not match how they feel.

That points at the glabella. Softening the 11s while leaving the forehead mostly mobile is the most requested male treatment we do, and it is a small enough intervention that nobody notices anything except that you look less irritated.

Brow position is the thing to get right

The male brow sits lower and flatter than the female brow. A lot of bad male Botox comes from injectors applying a lifting pattern designed for a woman, which produces an arched, feminized brow.

Ask specifically how your injector plans to handle brow position. If they do not have a clear answer, find someone else.

Areas men ask about most

Glabella. The number one request by a wide margin.

Crow's feet. Common, usually treated lightly so squinting still reads naturally.

Forehead. Approached carefully. Heavy forehead treatment plus a naturally low male brow is how you end up looking heavy-lidded.

Masseter. Two reasons. Jaw clenching and grinding, which is genuinely therapeutic, and jawline definition. Takes 20 to 30 units per side.

Underarm sweating. Very common request here for obvious climate reasons. See our post on Botox for sweating.

Scalp sweating. Increasingly requested by guys who wear helmets or work outside.

What to expect at a first appointment

Fifteen minute consult where you will be asked to make faces, which is mildly ridiculous and necessary. Then a plan with a specific unit count and price before anything happens.

Onset at day three to five, full result at two weeks, and a follow-up if anything needs adjusting.
